What online tools do you use?

As a small business owner, the online tools and platforms we choose are impactful to our time, efficiency and client service. As I often work with clients on their own processes and systems, I’m frequently asked about what I use. So, here’s my “tech stack.” For a few of these, I’ve included my referral link. I do benefit when others use the link - usually in the form of credits against my account.

  • ClickUp is the platform I use for project and task management. I use it to organize and manage my business as well as all of my client projects. One of the reasons I love it is that it can be very simple - if you need to track a few tasks across a few different projects. Or, it can be used for complex projects, connecting teams and a multitude of tasks. And a tip, if you are a visual person, you’ll probably prefer the “board” view to the “list” view.

  • Pipedrive is also a CRM and I use it to track and manage all of my contacts. It’s also the newest platform in my tech stack. I’ve met lots of people networking over the years and I also refer lots of people. Pipedrive’s email integration and handy automations make it much easier for me to track everyone as I’m building relationships.

  • Voxer is a communications platform. It’s like texting but with voice, and it’s a great way to stay in touch with both clients and team members.

  • Otter is a transcription service and was a game-changer in my business. I don’t think anyone goes back and watches video recordings of meetings or strategy sessions. But a transcription is easy to navigate and makes it easy to find something quickly.

  • AirTable is a database platform. Excel on steroids. If your spreadsheet isn’t cutting it, see if this works for you.

What podcasts do you listen to?

  • Mel Robbins - my #1 favorite for all things personal development.

  • Bizchix - For female business owners. This one's been going for YEARS - if you have a challenge, they've probably recorded an episode about it!

  • Unmute Yourself: The Podcast - my pal Nancy Medoff tackles all the topics to  empower women to "speak up, stand out & get your seat at the table."

  • It's Your Offer - My friend, Business Coach Jessica Miller shares strategies and advice for female business owners.

  • Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus - I'm patiently waiting for season 2. These interviews are the BEST!

  • Smartless - this one's for fun and always makes me laugh. I can't even tell you how many times I've been asked in the gym, "WHAT are you listening to?"

What is your favorite time management tip?

Take time to plan! People are often looking for little time management “tips & tricks" but honestly, the best way to take control of your time is to be intentional with it. Implement a planning process. I like to plan 12 weeks at a time for my “longer” timeframe. And then I’m 100% committed to a weekly planning process. By planning my week, I’m making the best use of my time.

What are some of your favorite business books?

Ahhh… I always love talking books! Here are a few of my favorites.

The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington - this book completely changed how I approach goal setting and I’ve never looked back.

Atomic Habits by James Clear - the definitive book on building habits .

Tools of Titans and Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferriss - tools, tips and philosophies from entrepreneurs, leaders, athletes, entertainers. Short chapters, a good “nightstand” book to pick up for a short chapter or two.

Alter Ego Effect by Todd Herman - I usually read, but I listened to this one and loved it. It’s all about who you need to be in those important moments.

Quiet by Susan Cain - I’m an introvert myself. Enough said.

Success Principles by Jack Canfield - an oldie but goodie. My copy is dog-eared and highlighted.
