Veronica Drake: From Scattered to Scaling

picture of Veronica Drake

Veronica Drake is a psychic medium and spiritual teacher with wonderful energy, a great sense of humor, and a passion for what she does. She and I were connected by Holly, our mutual virtual assistant. She was scattered, a little all over the place when it came to her business.

“I was skeptical of myself. Like the Taylor Swift song says – I’m the problem. It's me.” - Vee

Vee was hesitant at first when we started talking about implementing systems and processes, afraid that too much structure would limit her creativity. However, she knew her “shiny object syndrome” was holding her back, and she was exhausted from throwing spaghetti at the wall every day.

"What really sealed the deal for me was when she typed everything up and sent me this incredible document, I want what she has. I’m never gonna get what she has because that's not me. So I need her.” - Vee

We started out working together in my Close the Gap group, a 12-week program to set your goals, then create a strategy to reach them through the execution of the necessary tasks to get there.

On our initial 90-minute strategy call, we focused on putting some structure into her business with:

Content strategy structure

We put together a realistic schedule for her blogs, emails, and social media posts. She was then capable of prepping months of content at a time. This helped her use all that energy to take her incredible ideas and get them together for her audience.

Asana - With the help of our virtual assistant, Holly, we loaded all of this content information into Asana for clarity and organization. This was a big game changer for Vee. She had never used a platform to collect all of her thoughts and ideas.

“Kathleen helped me figure out the organization piece. Getting my thoughts out and seeing what's on the table was super helpful. And accountability with dates. Because I would just be like oh, I'll just do it later. And later never came.” - Vee

Bookkeeping

When Vee and I had our very first call she told me she “thought” she was successful, but she wasn’t sure because she didn’t know how much revenue she was taking in. Money made her anxious, and yet she hesitated to get too deep into her financial situation. I knew she was going to need some support here so I connected her to a bookkeeper who she ultimately decided to hire.

“Without doing it directly, she actually got me to do something I've never been able to do in my life. That's her super stealthy superpower. She got me to look at my money in a healthy way.” - Vee

Work/life balance

Vee was also frustrated by the limited amount of time she had for herself due to working all the time and not setting boundaries around work hours. She wanted to honor her own wants and needs - taking morning walks for inspiration, going to the gym to stay present and healthy, and spending Fridays with her grandchildren if she wanted, making lifetime memories.

After seeing the impactful results from the group, she decided to commit to a second round. She spent most of that time developing a group program. There are lots of logistics and moving pieces to launching and filling a successful program and she needed the structure and accountability to execute. Once she launched the offer, she easily filled 18 out of 20 seats. I wanted Vee to see the benefit of big ticket offers, and pricing them based on her years of experience.

“Scattered is the best word for how I was before I joined the group. I had tons of loose ends, and no system for follow through. A total lack of direction.” - Vee

We have been working together one to one since June so she can really focus on creating a system for how her clients work with her. She wanted to clarify and amplify her current offers and needed help developing new offers. Vee is passionate about helping women develop their confidence. She’s relatable, fun, and generous.

“When I have ideas swirling around my brain I appreciate Kathleen’s calmness, and her ability to step back and articulate solutions.” - Vee

Our challenge is capturing all of the ideas she comes up with - she’s extremely prolific - and keeping the things we’re working on prioritized. We are working together to keep intention in the mix, so she doesn’t put all her energy into things that she realizes later aren’t really what she wants to do.

“I feel like I'm mastering things, like I actually have stepping stones and I'm moving up the rungs on the ladder, and I can see it. She makes you feel important, like you matter. I love the group, but I just really love me some Kathleen time. I told her she’ll never get rid of me.” - Vee

If you’re a creative entrepreneur like Vee, with tons of ideas but no idea how to execute your vision, let’s talk about how you can go from scattered to scaling, too.
