Path Of Action Accountability Group: Behind the Scenes
I normally talk a lot about planning, processes, execution, and of course - accountability. So I thought it would be fun to talk about a day in the life of a Path of Action participant who’s actually learning to implement those concepts to grow and scale their business.
Everyone shows up on day one of their 12-week program well prepared after having a 1:1 90-minute strategy session with me. They have utilized the worksheets I provide to choose their goals and together we have reverse engineered them in to doable tasks that are strategically placed in their schedule. A key part of this is recognizing what the obstacles and difficulties will be, which is specific to the individual.
It’s important to be clear here - many people struggle to break down their goals on their own into a realistic and manageable plan. They are just too close to it all. I make sure this is clearly and simply mapped out before we head into the group meetings.
Wondering what types of goals Path of Action Accountability participants choose to focus on? Here’s a list:
• Creating a new program
• Pursuing a sales goal
• Defining and Implementing a system (such as onboarding)
• Developing a course
• Nailing down routines such as follow up or social media content creation
• Developing a new service
• Implementing a new marketing strategy
It can be anything that’s necessary to do next if you are serious about moving forward in your business.
“I was able to hone in on actions that had the biggest impact on my business and then celebrate my accomplishments.”
The weekly calls are paramount to success in the group. They’ve chosen the things they need to focus on right then over that 12-week period. Even if you have no idea what to choose for your goals, I talk through it with you so you have clarity around your true next priorities. Once we know those goals we can figure out how you’re going to achieve them. Speaking them out loud in a group setting gives you a much greater chance at success.
“I was a little skeptical of paying someone else to hold me accountable, but it’s one of the best decisions I ever made!”
I start each weekly meeting talking about specific and effective strategies that are motivating, inspiring or confidence building. As always, part of the success here is having the right tools, systems and processes to support your goals. Each person needs to realize the best tools for their productivity.
Then we talk about what they will do in the coming week to support the goals they are working on in the group. It’s an opportunity to share wins and ask for feedback from both me and the group on any obstacles preventing them from getting their tasks done.
"Having one accountability partner is so useful to prompting action; having SIX (Kathleen plus the other participants) is incredibly powerful and empowering!”
Most people are worried about the accountability piece, but this is where the beauty of the Path of Action Accountability group comes in.
Everybody struggles at some point, and doesn’t achieve what they had hoped for the week. It could be that they had unrealistic expectations, or life happened - something out of their control sucked up a chunk of time they would have used to get their tasks done.
“This group keeps my focus front and center, on the actionable steps that will actually get me where I want to go in my business.”
The group is like a safety net that catches you when you get overwhelmed. They offer suggestions, or share relatable situations along with what helped them. And I am there to help you redirect back on your path. That could mean breaking tasks down a bit more, or adjusting the things you need to do to get back on track. It’s an incredibly encouraging environment.
