How to Reflect and Reset for Success in Q2

The second quarter of 2025 is almost half over. This is an excellent time to pause, reflect, and reset for success in Q2 before it ends. Are you on track with the goals you set out to achieve by the end of June?  Let’s make sure you end this quarter strong and set yourself up for a successful summer.

My to-do list is overflowing with exciting tasks that I want to have a plan of action for. My youngest child is graduating from high school in June and preparing for his Freshman year of college in the fall. Besides all of the preparation necessary, he has a considerable bucket list for summer fun. I’m looking at my summer schedule strategically to see how I can balance work while honoring the time I want to spend with him. That means I want Q2 to go as efficiently as possible.

I’m considering my client load, current goals, what I want to focus on, and what can wait until after he has launched and settled into his college dorm. I want to have time to connect and make memories during his last summer at home.

My business and clients are also important to me, and I want to plan my summer intentionally, without feeling pressured, stressed, and dragged along for the ride. I want to feel good about my choices, not left with regret, wishing things had gone differently.

Many entrepreneurs are vision-driven - they focus more on pushing forward than pausing to reflect. They want to continually take action and don’t like slowing down. I’m always encouraging the pause. There’s such great value in reflecting. So much so that I have built it into my processes.

Every week during CEO Hour, deciding our priorities for the following week requires reflecting on the previous week and how our goals are going. We do a bigger, deeper, and longer-term reflection to prepare for 12-weeks in our quarterly CEO Power Planning sessions.

Why reflection is important in the overall process:

Stop and assess - Are your projects moving forward at the pace you intended? Are you spending time on the most important things, such as business development? Where is procrastination creeping into your days? What is energizing you vs. what is draining you? What keeps landing on your “need to fix” list, and why isn’t it getting done? This leads to….

Setting up next goals - We can see our momentum as it builds. We can see how the pieces are fitting into place. Reflecting on where we’ve been helps to lay a clear path for what needs to happen next.

According to the Mel Robbins 5-second rule, which “interrupts” your normal process and helps you take action, pausing to reflect causes you to stop the unnecessary things you are doing on autopilot and assess where things stand, where you want to go, and what intentional action you need to take to move the needle.

This time of year, there are some specific things we want to reflect on and reset:

Summer planning

What’s our situation now, and how can we move on from here to set ourselves up for the summer we want to have? Have you shifted your calendar to reflect the schedule that supports your goals? Have you thought about the pace you want to maintain this summer? Are your kids’ and family's schedules arranged for summer?

Post tax season

Take time to review your expenses and make strategic decisions around managing your money for your business and life. Do you need to put aside money for vacation? Maybe you need to pay a VA to help you with administrative tasks during the summer.

Projects on the docket for completion this year

will you be ready to wrap things up on time? Maybe you are planning to complete a website redo or launch a new program. Is your timeline realistic as you move from Q2 into Q3? If you need to alter your timeline, how will it impact everything else?

Other things to consider:

  • Are my sales on target?

  • Are my business development efforts on target, or do I need to make some tweaks?

  • Am I making sufficient progress on my chosen goals?

  • Where am I stuck, and what action do I need to take to move forward?

  • Do I have the team support I need, or given my plans, should I add more support or resources?

I provide guidance and structure for my clients so they can move smoothly from one quarter to the next, checking off boxes and achieving goals. If you think this type of support can help you with your business goals, let’s connect!
